As you've probably noticed, we have made some big updates to TownPost.
New Features
- Better, more accurate search
- Browse by location
- You can now choose whether to show your e-mail and phone # on new ads.
- New look and feel to the site. We have modernized and spent a lot of effort on improving page load speeds.
- Transportation methods - sellers can show how they would like you to do the deal (in person, they will come to you, or they are willing to ship).
- Save searches to get e-mails when when new ads match your search
- Improved anti-scammer measures
- Improved moderation tools - so it's easier for us to review and manage the ads that are coming in.
- You can now choose how long you want your top ad to display for.

Some improvements
We continue to make improvements to the ease of use of the site. Here are some new pages weve added:
- Province pages to browse all of the top categories and ads for Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan
- Category pages to browse all of the latest ads within a certain category
- Town pages to view all of the latest ads near a particular town.
All of these pages are similar to the way they were in V1 so it should make users who are used to the old version of the site have an easier time getting around the site. Let us know what you think!

Rounding the corner
Almost all reported issues have now been fixed, however there have been multiple people who have reported that the new search is confusing and should be ordered by newest ads. If you are running into this sort of problem, be sure to use the Newest rather than Relevant sorter when using the search tool. That will get you what you are looking for. We are coming up with a solution that will involve restoring the old category and town page formats (using the new look and feel + improved loading speeds). That should be ready by the start of next week.

Updates
Fixed issues
- Search results quality - We've fixed problems like search results were not responding to the location filter. Also, have fixed an issue where search results weren't showing in order even if the "Newest" sorter was selected.
- Issues editing ads - We've solved a problem with editing ads that previously prevented people from being able to save the changes they've made to the contact section.
- My ads aren' showing - Fixed! The ads were displaying horizontally before which was very confusing. Now we'e showing them horizontally and sorted properly.
- Bumped up ads should be in their proper place - Fixed! Bumped up ads should now behave exactly as if you deleted and re-posted (which as a reminder is not permitted on TownPost and anyways makes it harder for search engines to find your ads.)
- I haven't receiving password reset emails - Fixed! All mail servers are now sending messages
We're continuing to work on fixing the smaller issues that remain and also making parts of the software simpler and easier to use. Please stay tuned!

If you are having trouble with some of the new features, please reach out to us here and we will help you.
Ongoing issues (now resolved)
- Where have my ads gone (some or all are missing)? Your ads should still be there. If you are logged in, you can go to The my ads page. to see them.
- I've just created an ad, why isn't it published? - some ads may seem to disappear for a while and not go live. We have already fixed some problems with this, but we still have a little work to do. (Estimated fix: by the end of the week)
- What's up with the new chat? - there are some rough edges that we are working on smoothing out with chat. (Estimated fix: within 2 weeks).
- Why can't I log in? - there are a few reports of difficulties with logging in. If you have had trouble with this, please send us details about what's going wrong and what kind of error messages you see.
- Site slowness The site is a little sluggish - we are making adjustments to this.
I'm sorry that some of these changes have been disruptive or frustrating. Please be patient with us and give us a little time and we'll get to a better place.
Thanks,
Chris (Site Manager)
