Special Australian Shepherd Boy$

Archer is an 8 month old, double merle Aussie with a tiny bit of border collie mixed in, his condition gives him a beautiful white coat and bright blue eyes! His condition also left him deaf so he is a bit of a special boy, but you might not even know it unless I told you! Currently he weights around 45lbs and is just under 23" tall at the shoulder. (he will not grow much more) Archer is up to date on vaccinations, he is microchipped, and has had health testing done. He is not neutered but will go to his new family with a neutering contract. (he must not be neutered before the age of 2)( details below)
I purchased Archer from someone who lives in a rural area and had an accidental litter, she is a lovely person that I stay in contact with, and she only wants him to have a happy home!
Archer is a great boy with an amazing temperament but despite my efforts some of my other dogs never took a liking to him and they are often aggressive, they do not accept him as part of the pack. Therefore I would like to find a more fitting home for him where he can be himself and feel more comfortable.
It is not necessary, but I would love to see him go to a family that already has a well trained and well balanced dog to be Archer's playmate/companion. Archer LOVES other dogs and is a big goofball, he always makes friends at the dog park and loves to play.
I would like if his new family also had experience with challenging dogs or special needs dogs and knows how to be creative with training and come up with solutions to any issue they may encounter. This boy needs someone who is patient, consistent with training, and who has experience with dogs.
Archer enjoys going to the dog park to play with friends, he is great at being off leash in fenced parks and has great "recall", he always checks to see where you are and will come when you signal, having a second dog for him to take cues from helps with this. Archer likes to run beside my bike. He loves having his leash put on and loves going for walks. He has been taught to walk at a heel, but his training needs to be continued with his new family in order to perfect it. Archer will play fetch with the ball, he has fairly low drive, but will bring the ball back to you!
Archer has been raised around kids and is very friendly but still needs to be reminded occasionally that hands are not toys. He is good at not jumping up when greeting and is great at basic commands and tricks, which he receives via hand signals. Currently he knows, come, sit, stay, laydown, fetch/give, spin left/right, left/right paw shake, wait to eat, wait to enter and exit doorways. Archer is very smart and learns at a speed which I have never seen!
Archer is potty trained and he will let me know when he needs to go outside. He is kennel trained and sleeps in his kennel at night and while I am out of the house.
Archer has had his eyes tested with OFA and has some minor cataracts, but they do not affect his vision too much. He only has impaired peripheral vision at this time. He carries no congenital eye conditions however and is all clear on his genetic health testing with Embark. Archer should NEVER be allowed to become overweight, and is fed frozen raw meat ONLY, and in order to prevent the development of cataracts he must never be fed processed food, kibble, or plant-foods in excess. processed foods such as kibble, as well as plants(fruit/veg) contain toxins, carbohydrates and fructose that cause inflammation and lead to worsening of medical conditions (such as cataracts).
(Feeding a dog this kind of diet may sound expensive but I have calculated that the cost per pound is not much different than the cost per pound of "high quality"processed kibble 0_0 )
(((The reason Archer should not be neutered before the age of 2 is to allow his body to develop as normally and as naturally as possible, to prevent any hormone imbalances during his growth, or any other issues that may aggravate his cataracts.))) when the time comes I can refer you to a clinic that will neuter for $350-$450, so it will not cost too much.
Over all Archer is a smart, wonderful, loving boy who just needs to find the perfect home! He would make a great companion and a great playmate for your other dog! He is a goofy boy and is full of character. He can not hear at all, but unless I told you he was deaf you might not even notice!
Please let me know if you think Archer might be a good fit for your home and we can perhaps set up a trial stay for a week or two to see how he fits in!
I am in no rush to re-home him and will be choosing his new family very carefully, so please be okay with me coming to visit and checking on him to make sure everything is going well! I would like to stay in contact with the person who takes him, and will always take him back if needed!
I am asking for an adoption fee of $800 to cover basic costs
